Hello everyone! I’m Dr. Cearra Harris, and I’m excited to welcome you to my blog. With over a decade of professional experience, I have dedicated my career to developing, securing funding, and leading community development programs and initiatives. I recently defended my dissertation and will graduate from the University of South Carolina in May 2025. My journey has been both rewarding and enlightening, allowing me to work closely with diverse communities and advocate for positive change. I created this blog to document my experiences as an emerging scholar.
My research interests lie in trauma-informed community development and social justice in librarianship. As a Presidential Fellow and an American Library Association Spectrum Doctoral Fellow, I strive to further my academic pursuits and contribute to the growing discourse around critical topics.
Before diving into graduate school, I had the privilege of working as a librarian, where I created programs specifically tailored to meet the needs of underserved communities in the Carolinas. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the vital role that information access plays in fostering equity and empowerment.
When I’m not working or studying, I enjoy unleashing my creativity as a social media entrepreneur. I produce multimedia collaborations that connect people through community events, volunteerism, and fundraising. It brings me joy to see communities come together, and I believe that every small effort counts in making our world a better place.
Thank you for stopping by! I’m excited to share my thoughts, insights, and experiences with you, and I hope that together we can foster discussions around community development, education, and social justice. Stay tuned for more posts, and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
Warm regards,
Dr. Ce
